MSC history

From a small competition to a wider initiative.

MSC began at Harris Academy Purley on 23 September 2024. The timeline below keeps completed milestones, development stages and future plans clearly separated.

Host School · Harris Academy Purley

The beginning

MSC began at Harris Academy Purley, acting as the Host School, on 23 September 2024. What started as a small competition has gradually developed into a wider initiative involving different year groups, subject-based projects, student leadership, practical challenges and larger STEM events.

Not every stage of MSC's development has a precise public milestone date. Rather than invent dates, this page uses dated milestones where they are known and clear stage labels where the information is broader.

MSC begins at Harris Academy Purley

Harris Academy Purley becomes the Host School for MSC. The initiative begins as a small competition centred on Maths, Science and Computing.

MSC moves into lessons and clubs

MSC is delivered through Maths lessons, Science for Life Club and Coding Club, mainly with Years 7 and 8, widening the ways students can take part.

The model grows beyond a single competition

MSC develops into a wider initiative involving different year groups, subject-based projects, student leadership, practical challenges and larger STEM events.

A wider school network is proposed

The next structure is designed around a shared Year 7-9 curriculum, reusable programmes and school-specific delivery. HAPU is projected to reach approximately 615 students, with wider network reach projected at approximately 2,000 students as expansion progresses.

The next chapter

Growth will be added as evidence, not rewritten backwards.

As new schools join, programmes launch, awards are received or major projects are completed, this timeline can grow with dated, factual milestones. Proposed reach stays labelled as projected until it has actually happened.
