MSC Programme

STEM Enrichment

Flexible MSC activity beyond the core curriculum, including clubs, workshops and wider STEM opportunities.

Overview

What this programme is for

STEM Enrichment extends MSC beyond the core timetable through clubs, workshops, leadership opportunities and additional practical work. It gives schools flexibility to respond to local interests without creating a different version of the central curriculum.

Relationship to the curriculum

Enrichment can reinforce or extend curriculum ideas, but participation in enrichment is not required for a school to be following the MSC curriculum.

Academic year

2026-27

Programme definitions can be shared between schools, while each school controls whether and how it is delivered locally.

Delivery model

How the programme can work

01

Identify a useful extension to current MSC learning or a wider STEM opportunity.

02

Run it through a suitable local route such as a club, workshop or short project.

03

Connect outcomes back to MSC skills such as evidence, problem solving, communication and improvement.

Outcomes

What it is designed to develop

  • Extend interest beyond normal lessons.
  • Provide additional opportunities for student leadership.
  • Allow schools to respond to local opportunities without changing the central curriculum.

Adaptation

What schools can change

  • Schools choose the timetable, format and frequency that fit their context.
  • Enrichment may serve selected students or wider year groups depending on capacity.
  • Local opportunities can be added without changing the core Year 7-9 curriculum.
