MSC Exploration Day

Exploration Day brings a concentrated day of practical STEM activity into HAPU. It is a school programme rather than the central MSC curriculum, so other MSC schools are not required to copy its format.

Programme model

A full-day practical MSC experience.

Exploration Day is part of HAPU's local MSC delivery. It does not replace the Year 7-9 curriculum and other schools are not required to use the same event format.

Prepare

Tutor Time is used to prepare students for the day, expectations and team structures.

Apply

Periods 1-6 move through subject knowledge and practical STEM activity, with the emphasis on building, testing, evidence and problem solving.

Compete & reflect

HAPU can use shared challenges and competition structures where appropriate while keeping learning and evidence at the centre.

Relationship to curriculum

Curriculum and event structure stay separate.

Years 7-9 continue to follow the shared MSC curriculum. Exploration Day is an additional HAPU programme that can draw on MSC skills and practical approaches. Year 10 participation is event-specific and does not create a Year 10 core MSC curriculum.
